Goals in Sight

Ahh what a day! I don't think there is any feeling comparable to walking into a classroom that is absolutely empty, and in a few magical weeks, transforming into a space to inspire young minds! It may be one of my favorite parts of the job. Today, I created a goals bulletin board. I half got this idea off Pinterest/ half tweaked it to fit my class' needs. We have daily classroom meetings in room 10! I love this. It brings us together and lets the students know they are a part of a team! I…

I had two of them absolutely BAWLING as they left the room yesterday, saying that they just couldn't do it without me. Gosh they are so cute! One of them even brought me a "Get Well" gift full of yummy treats, magazines, and…

Week 1 Writing

Now that we've got the first week of school behind us, we're starting to get some serious learning in! I still have another week until I start my small groups and guided reading so we have a lot of time to teach explicit expectations! This week in writing is one of my very favorite! On the first day of school I always have my students draw a self portrait...just to see where we are! I got a lot of illustrations like this (I love these...adorable!!) This shows me exactly where my students are…

I really, really miss the classroom! I know we all have things we wish we could change about education...that will never change! Teachers do…
